Severe weather beginning in KS/OK

Very unseasonable warmth in Oklahoma today...76° in Oklahoma City, setting a new record high for the 26th. All this warmth and Gulf moisture is becoming a breeding ground for severe thunderstorms. A tornado watch has just been issued for SE Kansas and W/NW Missouri. A severe thunderstorm or tornado watch will be issed for eastern Oklahoma shortly. Not chasing this event, as the storms will be racing at 50 mph or more, the road network is less than stellar, and, oh yeah, it's pitch dark outside. Interesting to have an overnight severe weather system in late December in this part of the country. Below is the tornado watch and mesoscale discussion from the Storm Prediction Center. I will post news about any tornado reports as the night wears on.
